I couldn't be more happy or humbled with our 2016 bottling of Alegria Vineyard Cabernet Franc. Sitting just outside the town of Healdsburg in the Russian River Valley, Alegria Vineyard is a perfect place to plant Cabernet Franc, in that it's surrounded by Pinot Noir vineyards. Hoping to coax Chinon out of what is traditionally blended away into a ripe "Meritage" in California, the coastal influence of the Russian River Valley brings out a more feminine and elegant expression of Cabernet Franc. Despite its youth, this wine is absolutely singing right now, bounding with bright fruit and underpinned with an ethereal layer of sous bois and garrigue. I'd recommend enjoying a few bottles now, and laying some down as well.
